Meet the team
The Members of Accordia Asset Management Limited’s Board bring diverse skills to the table. All Directors have had wide experience of personally attending to clients. This provides the Board with a thorough understanding of client requirements, an essential focus needed in a private wealth management organisation. The members’ time in the financial services industry has spanned periods where markets have demonstrated unparalleled volatility, both on the up and the down sides. There have been many challenges along the way. However, respect for the science of investing, tempered by the Board Members’ collective experience and their various skills ensure sound decision-making within robust frameworks
I was raised in Christchurch and started my working life in a sales and marketing role with Kodak New Zealand Limited. In 1984 I commenced work in the financial services sector, firstly at an organisation that provided for comprehensive financial planning then to a business specialising in investment management. I have been part of a team that carried out asset allocation, investment selection and portfolio building as well as looking after a diverse group of investor clients. In 2009 I became a founding Director and Shareholder of Accordia Asset Management and Accordia Services Limited. I carry out a range of management and governance roles for Accordia as well as looking after a group of clients in and around the South Island. I am married to Mary Lou and enjoy boating, biking, reading and travel.
I started in the financial services industry in 1986 as an Accountant. From there, I worked as a Client Adviser for a Bank then a major financial planning firm. My next position was General Manager of Investments and Operations for a larger firm before going on to hold the position of Chief Investment Officer for the Sovereign Group. In 2003, when ASB Group Investments was formed, I became Chief Investment Officer for the ASB Group with responsibility for $5.5 billion of funds under management. As a member of the Executive Committee the team we headed comprised more than 200 people and included administration businesses, the company’s operational platform and its investment management strategy and operations.
After a number of years in the timber, sawmilling and construction industries, I moved into the financial advisory sector joining a large corporate where I was a client adviser. I joined with some of my current co-directors in 1993 as a Director/Shareholder in our private wealth management firm which was instrumental in the foundation of the current Accordia business.
I am a Senior Adviser at Accordia and I am based in the Waikato. I started my working career as an Accountant and celebrated 20 years as a financial adviser in 2013. I am highly motivated to see my clients do well and fully enjoy their lives at whatever stage they might be.
I am a Senior Adviser at Accordia with responsibility for company accounting, taxation and client advice. My financial planning experience began in 2000 following an earlier career in accounting. As a Chartered Accountant, I hold honorary auditor and treasurer roles for a number of voluntary organisations.
